- Treasurer Report: Nicky Westarp reports donations come in from Canada Helps and we currently have over $5000.00 in our savings account. All bills are paid up. Nicky is preparing for the AGM in March where a complete breakdown of finances will be reviewed.
- January minutes reviewed and accepted.
- Case Studies : Shirley Highfill reports busy month with calls about deer and deer strikes. Immature eagle electrocuted on North Road. Witnessed by homeowner and reported to the CO Service.
- Committee Reports :
A Cell phone has been purchased and Shirley and Nicky are preparing for the migration from pager to cell phone. An ad will be forwarded to the Gabriola Sounder and posted on the Gabriola Facebook Page for islanders. TELUS has been working closely with Nicky so there will be a smooth transition on Monday February 25, 2015.
B.Eagle Monitoring: Iain Lawrence reports a new BC Hydro contact for eagle raptor interactions with hydro lines. Iain will look into new nets as observed on an eagle rescue in the lower mainland by BC Hydro and OWL.
C.Library Project: Joanna Mackenzie reports there is not a GROWLS section as such but the books the library have purchased on GROWLS behalf (money supplied by GROWLS) will be listed on the GROWLS website.
- Fundraising for the GROWLS award to School District 68: Nicky Westarp will organize so the money we give $500.00 will be replaced in GROWLS funds.
Terry Hurst could not stay for meeting but has volunteered with help from Gini Green to maintain the GROWLS website. Terry has Word Press experience. Mark Hendricks will help for the difficult problems if they should surface. Thank you Terry and Gini. Thank you to Mark for continuing to keep the GROWLS domain fees up to date each year.
