OLD BUSINESS:
- Safety vests, gloves – leather gauntlet, rubber and medical, safety glasses were given out at the March meeting to Hetty, Annette, Carol & Michael with notification to the Lakes for future dispatch with experienced rescuers.
NEW BUSINESS:
- March minutes reviewed
- Case studies for month of February reviewed. Case history book at the meeting.
- Ongoing discussions to pair new rescuers with experienced. Michael went with Liz and Nikki on heron rescue.
- DVD VCR not working unable to show NIWRA rescue s. Next meeting.
- Visit by GROWLS to IWNCC by 5 members. New member Andy presented the donation to Marielle head of seal pup rescue on behalf of GROWLS & the Gabriolans who support GROWLS. After they were taken on an extensive tour of the facility where there was a bald eagle, golden eagle, crossbill and a northern fur seal in care. IWNCC will welcome any future visits by GROWLS members who were unable to visit at this time.
- Visit by GROWLS to MARS is being planned for this month with a donation of $500.00 to this facility. (Same amount given last year)
- EARTH DAY “A CELEBRATION OF EAGLES “ Volunteers needed for this event to be held at the Roxy. The film Valley Of Eagles to be shown with an Eagle Galleria preceding the film a showcase of artists & photographers work portraying eagles.
- GROWLS member Scott presented a terrific idea to the group. He is interning at Shaw Cable & has been learning filming /editing. He would like to make short videos for you tube featuring GROWLS articles with narration/pictures provided by GROWLS members. To demonstrate earlier in the day he had Liz reading from one of the newspaper articles she has written for the local papers and then he superimposed pictures of seals taken. Everyone is very excited about this 21st century idea and would like to be involved. The articles written by Jean/Liz will be used. More next meeting.
