- SHIRLEY NICOLSON gave an overview of the Basic Wildllife Rehabilitation Course put on by the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council which was hosted by Wild Arc in Victoria BC. Shirley’s background as a biologist was a perfect fit for this course. She recommends any GROWLS member if the opportunity arises to take this course regardless of your background. Shirley was the seventh GROWLS member to complete this excellent course in wildlife rehabilitation.

CASE STUDIES held over for June Meeting.

WILD TURKEYS - Shirley related the difficulty of dealing with wild turkey rescues. She would like an article regarding the issues around domestic animals abandoned by their owners. Discussion followed and all agreed GROWLS will aid any injured animal as long as it is safe for rescuers to do so but GROWLS does not manage wild or domestic animals.

OCEANS DAY to be held Sunday June 06 2010 sponsored by the RDN. GROWLS will have a table as it is an opportunity to discuss the upcoming seal pup season.

MEMBERS will be canvassed for availability July & August in anticipation of SEAL PUP season. Rescuers, pager & transporters so quick response and movement of seal pups to rehabilitation can occur. Norm Snihur who is recovering from illness may not be flying his rescue helicopter in time.
