The GET OUT MIGRATION walk by Dr. Alexandra Morton began on Earth Day at Sointula BC down Vancouver Island to finish on Mother’s Day at the Parliament Buildings in Victoria BC. Dr. Morton visited Gabriola were she gave an evening lecture. The next day saw hundreds of Gabriolans walk with her from the Gabriola Elementary School through the village centre and back to the school. People were encouraged to spread the word about the salmon and many unusual signs popped up everywhere with the message SALMON ARE SACRED. Here are a few signs GROWLS members created for this event to place at the end of their driveways.
